Using the TP Label teller operations are now quick, efficient and with less chance of error; in fact a typical piece of post now requires only two operator decisions (points 1 and 3):
- The operator puts the mail item on the scale
- The scale transmits the weight to the application resident either on the TP Label (off line mode) or on the PC (on line mode)
- The teller indicates destination, mail service and additional service using a simple menu structure using either the TP Label keyboard (off line mode) or an appropriately designed interface on the PC (on line mode)
- The application calculates the fare and transmits the pertinent data to the printer that then produces the label with the information relevant to the transaction and the stamp is printed in form of a 2D barcode
- The bar code printed on the label is read afterwards in the regional routing centers by specific devices with bar code reading capabilities.
